Stephen Dorf is once again in the press attacking the films produced by Marvel Studios. The guy doesn’t really hold back thoughts or feelings about him, and he obviously has no desire to be a part of these movies.
In 2021 Dorff said it Black Widow seems “garbage” and that he was “embarrassed” for his leading lady, Scarlett Johansson. Now Dorff is back and he’s doubling down on comments from him in an interview with The Daily Beast who lambasted Marvel for its “worthless trash.” He has said that he would only want to star in contemporary comic book films if they “were more like when I started when we made Lamaor the few that have been decent over the years, like when Nolan did it The dark Knight and reinvented Batman by Tim Burton. He went on to say:
“All this other junk is just embarrassing, you know what I mean? I mean, God bless them, they’re making a lot of money, but their movies suck [laughs]. And no one will remember them. Nobody remembers ‘Black Adam’ at the end of the day. I didn’t even see that movie, it looked so bad.
I mean, sure, Black Adam it was pretty bad, I’ll give you that, but Marvel has actually done some cool stuff over the years. This isn’t just a Dorff thing though, he doesn’t like to “create Black Adam and worthless trash again and again.
The actor continued to try new things Lama movie because he starred in the original 1999 movie Lama. He believes there’s no chance the new movie will be as good as the one it was in:
“Marvel is used to me destroying them anyway. How are you doing that PG movie “Blade”, which can’t find a director? [laughs] Because anyone who goes there will be laughed at by everyone, because we’ve done it before and made it the best. There is no Steve Norrington out there.
Dorff then talks about mainstream films in general and how he “would always be making mainstream films if they were any good”. So he decided to contest Christopher Nolanit’s the next movie Oppenheimer said:
“If that year or two that happens doesn’t land me, for whatever reason, a role, I won’t lose sleep over it because I wasn’t one of 50 people on ‘Oppenheimer.’ I mean it looks cool, but to me, unless you’re playing Oppenheimer, I don’t want to be in that movie [laughs]. Unless it’s my friend’s film, and then I’ll make a scene or skip out.
But wouldn’t he do it to build relationships with Nolan and all the other big players involved? Sounds like a great place to make new friends! Dorff is really closing himself off to opportunities, but I guess it’s clear that he doesn’t want those opportunities.
