Just a year ago we heard the news that Disney+ has greenlighted the Percy Jackson series. Since then the information it was revealed little by little. ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ will be played by Walker Scobell (‘Project Adam’), the rest of the cast is getting to know each other little by little. The latest of these confirmations were those of Lance Reddick (“Godzilla vs. Kong”) and Toby Stephens (“The Journey”).
The incorporation of the two performers was announced by Variety. the two will be Important characters of the series: Reddick will play thunder god and Olympian ruler Zeus, while Stephens will play his brother, sea god and Percy’s father, Poseidon.
The news is accompanied by official descriptions Of the characters. Zeus is defined as: “The all-powerful sky god and ruler of Mount Olympus, Zeus is stormy and suspicious. He has sworn to wage war if his stolen thunderbolt is not returned to him”.
On the other hand, Stephens’ character hides a big internal dilemma: “Though seemingly absent from Percy’s life, many of Poseidon’s qualities live on in Percy; stubborn, impulsive, loyal… Though he remained estranged from Percy throughout his life, his deep feelings for his son (and Percy’s mother , Sally) are evident.”
Reddick and Stephens will share the cast with: Aryan Simhadri (‘Cheaper by the Dozen’), Leah Sava Jeffries (‘The Beast’), Megan Mullally (‘Oh Lucy!’), Virginia Kull (‘Parks and Recreation’), Glynn Turman (‘The Mother of the Blues ‘ ), Jason Mantzoukas (‘Dirty Grandpa’), Timm Sharp (‘On the verge’), Dior Goodjohn (‘My favorite teacher’), Olivea Morton (‘Better now’), Adam Copeland (‘Money place’), Suzanne Cryer (’10 Cloverfield Street’), Jessica Parker Kennedy (‘The Flash’) and Lin-Manuel Miranda (‘Tick, Tick… Boom!’).
Logan Lerman wanted to be Poseidon
The bond between Logan Lerman and Percy Jackson will be eternal. Even though I’m not old enough to play a teenager anymore, Lernan would have loved to be in the series but no longer with a cameo, as was rumored, but impersonating Poseidon himself. The actor commented on his desire to have a role in the series when it was announced, he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: “I’m flattered people are still talking about ‘Percy Jackson’ […] There may be quite a few left, but I’m curious if there would be an interesting role for me. According to Variety, ‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians’ is currently in production in Vancouver with Rick Riordan and Jon Steinberg writing the pilot to be directed by James Bobin.
