It seems Robert Egger may return to collaborate with his The lighthouse star Willem Dafoe while the actor is in talks to join the director’s next film project, Nosferatu. If officially chosen, he will join Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgard, And Nicholas Hoult I’m already on board.

Eggers had been wanting to put Dafoe in this film for some time and speaking of this, he previously said: “Nosferatu it’s such an incredibly important movie and story to me, so always filter. If Willem… if ‘Nosferatu’ is made, Willem damn well better be in it because I love working with him… but, you know, maybe he would play Ellen? He who knows.”

It is unknown who will play Dafoe in the film, but it will not be the character of the vampire, Count Orlok. That character is played by Skarsgard. This would also be the second Nosferatu film project that Dafoe would be a part of, the first being that fantastic 2000 horror satire The Shadow of the Vampire. In that film, she played a fictionalized version of Max Schrek, the actor who played the vampire Count Orlok in the original film.

In this new revision, Nosferatu tells the gothic tale of the obsession between a bewitched young woman (Depp) in 19th-century Germany and the ancient Transylvanian vampire (Skarsgard) who stalks her, bringing unspeakable horror with her. Focus has not commented on the project.

Eggers has been working on the making of this film for years. It’s a passionate project and has a long history with film. He actually played Count Orlok in “a scene-for-scene recreation of the silent film, complete with intertitles and brother gargoyles.”
