James Gunn Says Decision to Cancel DOOM PATROL and TITANS Preceded His Hiring and Was Out of His Control

We recently reported that Warner Bros. Discovery canceled both DC series Destiny Patrol And Titans following their fourth season on HBO Max. Some fans of the shows were quick to point fingers at DC’s new boss James Gunnwho now leads DC Studios along with Peter Safran, as the change came just a few months after he took the job to direct the movies and TV shows to come out of the studio. But Gunn is assuring curious minds that this has nothing to do with him, as the cancellations that have occurred over the past year have preceded him and the upcoming viewing of him.

To a fan of the two shows on Twitter, Gunn explained the situation, saying:

The decision to end the series precedes us. But I most certainly wish the best to the talented group of creators, actors and the rest of the crew that produced both shows.

While Gunn and Safran made several choices that shocked fans, including ending Henry Cavill’s run as Superman, they seemingly had nothing to do with Destiny Patrol And Titans come to a conclusion.

Variety reported that both productions were aware that these would be their final seasons some time ago, so both will have final endings. A source also pointed out that the decision was not part of Warner Bros.-Discovery’s infamous cost-cutting strategy that led to the near-complete film being killed off. Bad girl.

An HBO Max spokesperson released the following statement about the cancellation:

“While these will be the final seasons of ‘Titans’ and ‘Doom Patrol,’ we are very proud of these series and excited for fans to see their climactic finales. We are grateful to Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television for delivering such a thrilling, action-packed and heartfelt series.

Destiny Patrol stars Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero, Joivan WadeAnd Michael Gomez. Timothy Dalton he also starred in the series for its first three seasons. Titans starred Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan CroftAnd Ryan Potter.

The fourth season of Titans And Destiny Patrol each consists of 12 episodes, split into two blocks of six episodes. Can’t wait to see their latest seasons?
