The 140th USC Commencement Ceremony features a familiar face as keynote speaker: Kevin Feige, producer and president of Marvel Studios. Feige, a 1995 graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts and a frequent speaker on campus, will deliver the keynote address at the May 12 ceremony.
“I am so excited to have Kevin Feige as our new spokesperson. He is a creative force: an impresario who builds extraordinary teams and tells magical, diverse stories that captivate people around the world,” said USC President Carol L. Folt. “He sat in the same chairs and walked the same paths as so many of our students – and look where his adventure took him. I can’t wait to hear his inspiring stories.”
Feige is a member of the Board of Trustees of the School of Motion Picture Arts. In 2017, he established a fund to encourage the success of film students at USC. The Kevin Feige Creative Production Endowment Fund supports courses that teach aspiring filmmakers how to turn an idea into a successful commercial release. Feige also received the 2014 Mary Pickford Alumni Award for achievements that have distinguished the school and the entertainment industry.
“My USC experience played such a fundamental role in who I became, both as a filmmaker and as a person,” Feige said. “Of course you don’t have to ask me twice to come back and talk to the students. But I am honored and humbled to be asked to be the young speaker celebrating the graduating class of 2023 as they bring their own USC experience to the world to be part of the next generation of storytellers, innovators and leaders to create great. .. Things to do.
“Feige is an excellent role model for all SCA students because creative production is a core competency throughout the school’s curriculum, a hallmark of the best practitioners in the industry,” said Elizabeth Daley, dean of the USC School of Motion Picture Arts.
Feige oversees Marvel Studios’ feature film productions, with 30 feature film releases, all #1 at the box office and collectively grossing over $28 billion worldwide. Ten films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, and two films – Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinite War – earned more than $2 billion.
