Julian Sands remains missing during second full week of search in California’s Mount Baldy – update

UPDATE January 24th: The search for Julian Sands continues 12 days after the actor was reported missing.

“The sheriff’s department is approaching the second full week of its search for missing hiker Julian Sands. Numerous ground and aerial surveys were conducted,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “To date, Mr. Sands was not located and no evidence of his current whereabouts was found. The search will continue, provided the weather and ground permit.”

Sands’ car was found in the Baldy Bowl of the San Gabriel Mountains, but the actor has not been seen.

EARLY January 23rd: Julian Sands went missing 10 days ago and search and rescue teams continued their efforts at California’s Mount Baldy in the San Gabriel Mountains. As the search continues, the actor’s family praised the “heroic” work of the authorities.

“Our heartfelt thanks go out to the compassionate members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department who are coordinating the search for our beloved Julian, not least to the heroic search teams listed below who braved the difficult conditions on the ground and in the air to Julian to find a home,” said the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s statement.

The Sands family’s statement was preceded by SBCSD, which wrote: “As we complete day 11 of the search for Julian Sands on the mountain. As we enter Baldy, we are reminded of the sheer determination and selflessness of all the people who strive. We will continue to use the available resources.”

Sands was reported missing on Friday, January 13. The SBCSD reported that they explored the area of ​​the mountain. Baldy then his phone pinged showing the actor heading in that direction. Although they tried to ping the phone again, further attempts were unsuccessful, most likely “due to lack of cellular signal or cell phone power outage.”

The authorities’ previous update on January 20 indicated that helicopter searches would continue, but “there is no set time or duration for the search”.

Sands is best known for his role in A room with a view where he starred alongside Maggie Smith, Judi Dench, Daniel Day-Lewis and Helena Bonham Carter to name a few.
