“Till” director Chinonye Chukwu calls out “blatant misogyny towards black women” after Oscar

Chinonye Chukwu, Director of Toreacts to Oscar rejection after her film was not nominated for Academy Awards.

Additionally, Danielle Deadwyle was excluded from the Best Actress nominations for her portrayal of Mamie Till-Mobley, the activist seeking justice after the murder of her son Emmett Till.

“We live in a world and work in industries that are so aggressively committed to preserving whiteness and perpetuating an unabashed misogyny towards black women,” Chukwu wrote on Instagram.

She continued: “And sadly. I am eternally grateful for the greatest lesson of my life – no matter the challenges or obstacles, I will always have the power to cultivate my own joy, and that joy will be one of my greatest forms of resilience remain.”

Chukwu was not the only one to react to the Oscar push. Whoopi Goldberg has broken up The view her thoughts afterwards To was not mentioned in the announcements this morning.

“Before we begin, we want to celebrate the talented artists and filmmakers who have been nominated for the Oscars this morning,” said the show’s host. “Unfortunately, my film Tois not nominated, but we want to congratulate all the nominees because a lot of them were here and it’s great to congratulate, so we will.”

Goldberg, who served as one of the film’s producers, also starred as Alma Carthan, Mamie’s mother and Emmett’s grandmother.
