More than a year after ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ hit theaters, the film that brought back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield was, without a doubt, one of the MCU’s newest phenomena, after ‘Avengers . : finish me’. However, it’s known that it would be a long time before we saw the story finally hit theaters, and even Marvel wanted Mysterio back.

Phil Langone, one of Marvel’s artists, shared a photo on his Instagram (via FandomWire), where you can see the storyboard of ‘Spiderman: There’s no going home’, where Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, appears. In the post, the artist explains that this sequence takes place next to Peter’s school. “This version took place under an elevated train near Peter’s school. JJ Jameson is a TMZ-style street reporter.”

The artist said the Marvel’s first plans were for Mysterio to kill Aunt May, explaining that his death was crucial in the development of Peter Parker, as it would test his no-killing rule. In the scene you can see Tom Holland burning with rage as he holds Marisa Tomei in his arms, who speaks the iconic words of “With great power comes great responsibility.”

“Part of the idea that was explored was that Spidey is one of the strongest superheroes, but he stops because he doesn’t want to kill anyone. But what would it be like if Spidey went crazy? Mysterio would be the sixth ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ incident

Little is currently known about how Marvel would craft Jake Gyllenhaal’s return to the Disney franchise. What is certain is that Mysterio, being a master character in the art of deception, could be that his death would be just an illusion, and the real villain could be hiding somewhere on Earth, and see his theory come true. in the multiverses.

This would explain his presence in Jon Watts’ early plot ideas for ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’, but surely bringing him to life could have taken some weight off the deaths in the MCU, which would later become an integral part of the film’s development Tom Holland’s Peter in the future.

Either way, Mysterio would have completed the Sinister Six lineup of Sandman, Dr. Octopus, The Green Goblin, Electro, and the Lizard that we saw on the tape. Even so, the tape has become one of the biggest box office phenomena, which is now already feeling the footsteps of “Avatar: The Way of Water”.
