Emilia Clarke not seeing ‘House of the Dragon’: ‘It would be like going to another class’s alumni reunion’

It has been more than three years since the end of ‘Game of Thrones’ and the franchise has expanded with a prequel series on HBO Max: ‘The House of the Dragon’. The new series has millions of viewers around the world, but as Emilia Clarke herself told Variety, Daenerys Targaryen is not among them. The actress is currently promoting ‘The Pod Generation’ at Sundance, a romantic comedy written and directed by Sophie Barthes in which she stars opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor. From there and in an interview with Matt Donnelly, Clarke explained that she simply can’t see “House of the Dragon” because she’s “strange” Y “strange”.

“No, Emilia Clarke won’t see ‘House of the Dragon’: “I just can’t take it. It’s rare. It’s like someone saying: “Do you want to go to this class reunion that’s not in your class?”. Something like that is what I feel, I’m avoiding it.” Of course, even if she doesn’t want to see it, Clarke says she’s thrilled with all the awards and public recognition the series has.

Clarke starred in “Game of Thrones” as Daenerys Targaryen (also known as Daenerys of the Storm, The Only One Who Doesn’t Burn, Chain Breaker, Mother of Dragons and of course Khaleesi) for eight seasons from start to finish, and the prequel itself tells the story of their ancestors, of the origin of the end of House Targaryen. In the cast Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy and Milly Alcock) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke and Emily Carey), as well as Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), Viserys I (Paddy Considine), Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best), Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) and some Lannisters and Baratheons.

The generation of pods

‘The Pod Generation’ introduces us to a future couple who want to have a baby through a disposable artificial uterus, a new system invented by the multinational Pegazus. The film was presented at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19 and its cast is completed by Rosalie Craig, Vinette Robinson, Kathryn Hunter and Jean-Marc Barr. Other projects Clarke has pending include ‘McCarthy’, where she plays Jean Kerr; Sophie Hyde’s “An Ideal Wife”; and of course the Marvel Studios series “Secret Invasion” alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Olivia Colman and Cobie Smulders, coming to Disney+ throughout 2023.
