Idris Elba he’s returning to his role as DCI John Luther in the upcoming film Luther: The fallen sun. The actor played the brilliant homicide detective in the British series Luther from 2010 to 2019, and the series ended with his character imprisoned after nearly solving a case in a series of serial computer murders. The film will pick up where the series left off and Elba will reunite with the co-star Dermot Crowleywho returns to play the DSU Martin Schenk.
Newcomers to the cast include Cynthia Erivo (Bad times at the El Royale, Harriet) And Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes).
Serkis recently spoke about his villainous character in the film, murderous millionaire David Robey, saying, “When I first read the script, I almost wanted to throw it in the trash and take a shower. I don’t think I’ve come across anything as dark to a lot of time.

Jamie Payne is directing the film from a script by the creator of the series Neil Cross.
Luther: The fallen sun will hit select theaters on February 24 before landing on Netflix on March 10. I can not wait!
