IFC Midnight and Shudder has released a trailer for an upcoming religious horror film titled Consecrationand it looks like it could be a solid, creepy horror movie!
Consecration stars Jena Malone (Sucker Punch, The Ruins), Danny Houston (30 Days of Night, Yellowstone), And Janet Suzman. The film was directed by Christopher Smith (Triangle, Death StarAnd The Exile) from a script he co-wrote with Laura Cook.
In the film, “After the suspicious death of her brother, a priest, Grace (Jena Malone) travels to the Mount Savior Convent in Scotland to find out what really happened. Once there, she discovers murder, sacrilege and a disturbing truth about her past.
Smith spoke of the project saying it is “a film about the nature of religion and how defining one thing as divine creates a false opposite that is heretical. This film is an opportunity to take the audience on an exciting journey into the dark unknown, and I really want to push it to the limit both in terms of fear and the psychology of the main characters. …I want Consecration to be the scariest yet.
IFC Midnight will first release the film theatrically on February 10, 2023, and will arrive digitally on March 3, 2023.
