Starz stepped in to save the series Minx after the series was canceled by HBO Max. The Lionsgate-owned premium network picked up Season 1 and the unedited Season 2.

The first season of the series premiered on HBO Max in March 2022 and was renewed for a second season a couple of months later. They then pulled the second season renewal at the end of the year while the show was in its final week of production. The show was canceled during the purge at Warner Bros. Discovery as part of the cancellation of cost-cutting fees.

The series is set in 1970s Los Angeles and the story “follows Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond) — a young feminist activist trying to launch a women’s magazine. When she can’t find anyone to publish her idea of her as she is, she ends up teaming up with low-budget pornographic magazine publisher Doug (Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. But when their creation Minx spear, it proves to be a lightning rod of controversy as protesters aim to shut it down.
The show was actually well received and ended up making many Best Shows for 2022 lists and earning the second highest Rotten Tomatoes rating for a Max Original comedy only behind Tricks.

We have found the perfect home. Our writers, cast and crew have created something truly special in Season 2 and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

The fact that audiences can watch Ellen and our cast’s amazing new season, as well as watch or experience Season 1 for the first time, has us jumping for joy and thanking our lucky Starz.”
