Julianne Moore is an Oscar winner. But before that, she had to endure barbs about her appearance.
To promote her new film, When you’re done saving the worldMoore recalled a moment earlier in her career.
“Someone in the film industry said to me: ‘You should try to look better. I said, ‘I don’t know if I can do it,'” Moore told Times UK. “Obviously we have a business that involves something physical, but beauty and beauty are subjective.”
Belonging to a small part of the population led to insecurities.
“Growing up, my red hair made me feel like an outsider. Redheads make up two percent of the world’s population. No one wants to feel outnumbered, especially as a young child. Now I feel very identified with my hair and freckles. But there is still a part of me that would rather be a tanned blonde.”
