Co-director Carlos Montaner added, “We were particularly curious about the ways women internalize misogyny and pass it on to their daughters, often through religious traditions involving marriage, ‘purity’ and other forms of physical and mental control.” on their bodies. ” The directors note: “We hope our dark fairy tale will be read as a kind of love letter to the right of every person to determine their own path in life, no matter how hard they fight to get rid of what others have said theirs is their destiny. .“
