Wish I could stay longer? Yes, absolutely. I think looking back on it, especially now that months have passed, I obviously wish I had. But at the same time, and for each of us, it has definitely been a personal journey, and it always has been from the beginning. It was really just me against myself. Only I could be the one saying I’ve reached my limits or something. I think letting some people’s words affect me is the world we live in. It’s so driven by social media and the internet and things like that. Everyone can have their own opinion, but only by making sure you stay true to who you are, and that’s when I knew my integrity was about to be called into question. This is something I don’t take lightly and never have.

Both mikepiazza and Gus tried to get Nastia to stay before handing her the bracelet. But after realizing that some of the recruits didn’t approve of the so-called “special treatment” he’d received, the Olympian decided it was time to go. Nastia revealed what was on her mind moments before walking off.

“I didn’t ask Remy to be in the car with me and I didn’t ask for special treatment,” the 33-year-old said. “I didn’t win the Olympics with special treatment. I felt like I was welcomed there. She continued: “But I think after a month of thinking, I realized that maybe I should have stayed and that it was a personal journey to unlock old and new things within me. The team does everything for a reason, so there was a reason they did it. To me, at the time, it certainly felt like a ‘special treat’. But then again, they do it all for a reason. I saw Remy’s post and he said something like we knew that moment would unite the recruits or cause division. Unfortunately it was the last.”

Nastia acknowledged that this has been “a learning lesson” for her. “Everything happened so fast on the show, but I think the bottom line is how I was raised was to hold their integrity, but also, at the same time, I let other words, words of other people, I got in the way. . I think it’s very important not to let something like this happen, whether it’s a TV show or just life or social media or whatever. Unfortunately, that’s the world we live in every day,” she said.
