Muniz made the big announcement via Entertainment Weekly saying:
“It is with utmost excitement, optimism and gratitude that I join Rette Jones Racing for the full ARCA Menards Series schedule this year. Since childhood, it has been my dream to pursue racing in NASCAR and it has been important to me work with a team that aligns with my long-term goals and vision, while providing every imaginable opportunity to grow mentally and physically as a full-time race car driver.
“I look forward to not only demonstrating my skills on the track and how serious I am about progressing my racing career, but also showing my son and family what it means to chase your dreams and reinvent yourself.”
Muniz also shared a video on Twitter with a note that read:
“I finally made my dream come true, this is for my son and it shows him that you can always chase your dreams. Excited about this opportunity with Rette Jones Racing, Ford and our partners to race full-time for an ARCA National Series Championship in 2023 “. You can check out his post below.
It’s actually incredibly cool to see Muniz take this leap into a whole new career that he’s been pursuing. In an earlier interview with People, Muniz said he “catched the bug of wanting to be a racer” in 2004 after winning a tournament in Long Beach, California.
The actor also competed in the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in 2005 and 2011, placing third and second respectively. It’s been more than a decade since Muniz has been behind the wheel competitively, but he said he “will put it one hundred percent because I don’t want to look back on this opportunity and say, man, I wish I’d tried harder.”
I finally made my dream come true, this is for my son and it shows him that you can always go after your dreams.
