‘Deadpool 3’: Hugh Jackman never used (and won’t use) steroids to become Wolverine

Hugh Jackman has six months to recover Wolverine’s physical form before filming ‘Deadpool 3’, and even if it seems like little time, the actor will do it the old-fashioned way, without resorting to steroids. In an interview with Variety where he talks about the physical construction of the character, Jackman assured that he has never resorted to this hormonal compound nor does he intend to do so in the future, everything is achieved with lots of exercise and a healthy diet.

“I love my job and I love Wolverine”Jackman explains, “I have to be careful what I say here, but I’ve been casually told what the side effects are and I don’t like it. So no, I did it the old-fashioned way and ate a lot of chicken, I’m telling you. I feel sorry for vegans and vegetarians and for all the chickens in the world. Karma will literally not be good to me. If the deity has anything to do with chickens, I’m in trouble.”.

Not a wolf, a wolverine

The most curious thing is that his training is not limited only to burst the muscle, also consists in working the physical movements of the character (but without exaggerating). Jackman recalls in the interview that when he landed the role he hadn’t read a single X-Men comic and had no idea that a glutton (glutton in Spanish) is a real animal: “I thought it was made up, you know, it has the hands of a man with steel, it’s made up. So during rehearsal time, they were showing a documentary about wolves in Imax and I thought it was perfect because obviously I’m a wolf, part wolf.” . After the cinema, Jackman returned to filming and began to make gestures typical of wolves without the director understanding anything of what was happening: “I thought wolves always look like that because they actually smell, they have their noses stuck to the ground. That’s why they always look like that.”the actor justified himself, “And he said, ‘What do you mean by wolf?’; ‘Well, you know, Wolverine, I’m part wolf, so…’ And he said, ‘No, you’re a wolverine.'” Wolverines, or Gulo gulo, also known as wolverines, are carnivorous mammals in the same family as weasels, stoats, and ferrets, although they look more like a small bear and are thought to be extremely ferocious and strong for their size. .

What we know about “Deadpool 3”

With no official storyline, the only thing we know about the third installment of Ryan Reynolds’ foul-mouthed mercenary is that Wolverine and Deadpool will kill each other, that filming will begin in May 2023, and that it will continue to have “extreme violence” (come on, vote 18+).
