Mel Brooks’ HISTORY OF THE WORLD PART II – First Photos of Nick Kroll, Wanda Sykes and Ike Barinholtz

A few early photos from the upcoming film have been released World History: Part IIsequel from the iconic director Mel Brooks’ classic parody of human history, History of the World Part I. The sequel has been in the works for 42 years and Brooks is returning to film, where he is joined by comic actors Wanda Sykes, Nick KrollAnd Ike Barinholtz.

World History Part II promises to cover the building of the pyramids, the American Civil War, the Russian Revolution and so much more.

Check out EW’s exclusive first look at the above and below Hulu comedy. In an early photo, Sykes, Kroll and Barinholtz are pictured as commentators at an ice rink. In another, Kroll poses as fictional character Schmuck Mudman, while Sykes and Barinholtz offer portrayals of real historical figures in these stills. Sykes plays Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman to be elected to US Congress, and Barinholtz plays Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky.

Despite the fact that a sequel was never actually planned, its title was instead a play on Sir Walter Raleigh’s tome The history of the world, volume 1 – the film ended with a fake teaser promising “Hitler on Ice”, “a Viking funeral” and Star Wars parody “Jews in space” in a second part. It’s unclear if any of those sketches will make their way Second partbut the frame of Sykes, Barinholtz and Kroll providing commentary at an ice rink certainly looks like it could be a nod to the former.

Brooks, who wrote and directed the original film, is a writer and executive producer on the series along with Kroll, Sykes, Barinholtz, David Stassen, Kevin Salter, David Greenbaum and Christie Smith.

No matter what they cover, this sequel promises to be hilarious. World History Part II hits Hulu this spring.
