2022 will be remembered for many things, good and bad, but without a doubt one of the things that will be remembered most in the following years is for leaving behind some of the best crime series television has seen in a long time. And this list looks at the best of the past 12 months, as well as the platforms they’re available on.
Let’s start the list of best crime series of 2022 with a documentary that surely few will recognize. It is ‘Be Docile: Prayer and Obedience’. This documentary miniseries by Rachel Dretzin and Grace McNally chronicles the rise of the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a religious organization considered a cult. Available on Netflix.
The Plainville girl
You probably haven’t heard much about her either, but ‘The Girl from Plainville’ is one of best crime series of last year. Played by Elle Fanning, the young actress brings to life Michelle Carter, a girl who encouraged a boy via text messages to end her life, which inevitably ended in tragedy. Available on Lionsgate+, Claro and Amazon Prime Video.
Under the banner of heaven
another god the best series of 2022 not to be missed is ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’, a story starring Andrew Garfield, inspired by true events. Detective Jeb Pyre investigates the murder of a mother and her daughter and, in the course of his investigations, discovers some secrets of the Mormon religion and her disturbing past. Available on Star+.

The abandonment
This Emmy-nominated miniseries, created by Elizabeth Meriwether, is also one of the best crime series of the last year. Amanda Seyfried plays Elizabeth Holmes, a visionary businesswoman who brings revolutionary new ideas to medicine with her, but puts thousands of patients at risk along the way to success. Available on Star+.
Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story
Not only one of the best series of 2022, but also one of the most successful and controversial of all last year, is ‘Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story’. A story by Ryan Murphy, and starring Evan Peters, who brings to life one of the most notorious serial killers in US history, known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal”. Available on Netflix.
locked up with the devil
And finally, rounding out what many would put first is “Locked Up With the Devil,” a crime miniseries developed by Dennis Lehane. Taron Egerton plays James Keene, a convicted drug dealer who is offered his freedom in exchange for helping stop a suspected serial killer and discover where he keeps his victims. Available on Apple TV+.
