Black Panther: Wakanda Forever sets Disney+ streaming date at 82 days in theaters

Don’t say Disney isn’t a practitioner of theatrical windows: your $821 million Marvel Studios blockbuster Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will finally hit Disney on February 1st, 82 days after its US theatrical release. The movie opened on November 11 and grossed $181.3 million, WW $331.6 million.

While Disney’s previous Bob Chapek-led era shattered Marvel’s windows black widow, With a theatrical release on Disney+ (although there was a paid subscription level) during the 2021 pandemic, the studio backed away from such practices for future Marvel titles after a legal entanglement with Scarlett Johansson, the star of this picture.

Since then, Marvel Studios movies have had long time slots: Thor: Love and Thunder debuted on Disney+ on September 8 last year, 63 days after it hit theaters. When the sequel directed by Taika Waititi landed on Disney+ and has already grossed $341.2 million in theaters. The film will earn an additional $2 million on its concurrent theatrical and Disney+ run for a final domestic gross of $343.2 million. Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness debuted on Disney+ on June 22 after a 48-day theatrical run (at which point it had grossed $408 million out of a total BO run of $411.3 million).

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever joins 16 other Marvel Cinematic Universe films now streaming in IMAX Enhanced on Disney+, offering subscribers more viewing with an expanded aspect ratio for an immersive viewing experience at home.

Wakanda forever was nominated for two Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress for the original song “Lift Me Up” by Angela Bassett and Rihanna.
