Much like the space race, this idea had been discussed by Russians and Americans for decades, and Russia completed their film first. We talked about the Douglas Liman-direct film that is in the works Tom Cruise in the lead role which will be the first American film in space, and it looks like it’s going to be pretty awesome. But to hold us back, we have The challenge to check.
Here is the synopsis:
Cosmonaut Ivanov loses consciousness while the spacecraft is airborne. The doctors decide that zero-gravity heart surgery will need to be performed. Heart surgeon Zhenya Belyaeva (Yulia Peresild), who does not have time to raise her three-year-old daughter, is preparing for the flight.
