‘Black Panther 2’ would have been a lot different before Chadwick Boseman’s death – Flix Nation (AFP Agency)
August 2020, one of the most promising stars of the new Hollywood lost the battle against cancer. His name was Chadwick Boseman, a young actor who changed the course of Marvel Studios with his debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and who forced to rethink the future of the MCU with his unfortunate death. But the biggest challenge was changing the story of “Black Panther 2”, as explained by Ryan Coogler.
During an interview with the New York Times, Ryan Coogler explained what it was like ‘Black Panther 2′ with Chadwick Bosemann, or in its place, before his unfortunate passing. The sequel’s story would have had a more father-son tone due to Thanos’ snap: “What are we going to do with the Blip? This was the challenge. He had absolutely nothing to do with what we did. It was going to be a father-son story from the father’s point of view, because the first film was a father-son story from the sons’ point of view.”
After the death of chadwick boseman, the story of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ modify: “T’Challa was a father forced to be absent from his son’s life for five years. The first scene was an animated sequence. You hear Nakia talking to her son Toussaint. He says, “Tell me what you know about your father.” You realize he doesn’t know that he fathered him was Black Panther. She was never with him and Nakia remarried an uncle from Haiti.
Ryan Coogler reveals that in ‘Black Panther 2’ we would see T’Challa meet his offspring: “Then, we switch to reality and we are in the night where everyone comes back from the Blip. You see T’Challa meeting her son for the first time,” commented the director. But he quickly changes everything and gives way to more frenetic action scenes.

“Black Panther 2” was supposed to be a father-son adventure
At that point, Coogler explains that all of the events in the MCU have led him to turn ‘Black Panther 2’ into a father-son adventure: “Then there’s a three-year-old Ellipsis and he’s basically half-raising it with Nakia. We had some great scenes for Chad.” Surprisingly, the director explains that Disney allowed him to turn the sequel into a father-son adventure.
“Our production name for the film was ‘Summer Break,’ and the film was about a little boy who spends a summer with his father. On their eighth birthday, they make a ritual where they go to the forest and have to live off the land. But something happens and T’Challa has to go save the world with her son by her side. That was the film,” confesses the director.
In the conflict between Wakanda, the United States and the Talokan, this is where Namor, the main villain of the plot, played by Tenoch Huerta, enters the picture. No doubt the first plans for “Wakanda Forever” would have been completely different, and luckily for the fans, either way, the result was a decent story that graced the memory of Chadwick Boseman.
