Among the most anticipated films of 2022, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ managed to rank as one of the most successful releases of the year, and while it wasn’t able to surpass ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ at the box office, the truth is that it has beat a historic record in superhero films with female leads.
According to a report shared by Mojo at the box officethe film ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ earned a total of $429,946,777 at the US box office, making it the most successful female-directed superhero film of all time.
With this collection at the box office, the new Marvel film has managed to surpass the success of ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Wonder Woman’ and others superhero movies with female protagoniststhus marking a new record that was previously captured in 2019 by Carol Danvers’ origin story near the end of the MCU’s Infinity Saga.

Currently ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ is the most successful female-led superhero film in US history and for another film to top it, we will have to wait until 2023 when ‘The wonders’ will premiere in June, but with Captain Marvel so unpopular with fans, that seems unlikely to happen.
On the other hand, at the box office at a low level, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever remains at number 3 in the list of superhero films with female leads and has so far failed to surpass”Wonder Woman’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ although he may be able to add thousands more dollars to his account in the following weeks

In the list of female-led superhero films, Marvel manages to stand out not only with ‘Captain Marvel’ and ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ but also with Scarlett Johansson’s film, ‘Black Widow’ where she shares the screen with Florence Pugh, who ranks fourth behind ‘Wonder Woman’ starring Gal Gadot.
‘Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey’, ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’, ‘Elektra’ and ‘Catwoman’, are other films on this list that over the years have stood out for their US box office reception to which the titles will certainly continue to be added in subsequent years, starting with ‘The Marvel’s which will be released in June 2023.
