Today would have been Marvel Comics leader Stan Lee’s 100th birthday. To celebrate, Disney+ has announced that an original documentary about the man will be released sometime in 2023.
Lee died in 2018 at the age of 95. He co-created Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Hulk and the Fantastic Four, and his guest appearances in Marvel blockbusters based on these characters have been eagerly awaited by fans.
As the writer and editor of Marvel Comics, Lee became the most celebrated comics creator in the history of the medium – he was the only creator in the field whose fame rivaled that of the characters he created. His career began in 1941 when, at the age of 17, he received his first published work, a prose story published in the fifth edition of Captain America Comics. However, it was in the 1960s that Lee made his mark, tapping a vein of pop culture creativity that made history.
100 years of dreams. 100 years of work. 100 years of Stan Lee.
