While it sounds like an April Fool’s joke, the truth is that there are strong rumors that Robert Downey Jr. would return as Tony Stark in one of the biggest events ever in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Presumably, Iron Man would appear in “Avengers: Secret Wars” and during the film War Machine.
According to popular insider information, My Time to Shine Hello who is known for sharing the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ ensures that Robert Downey Jr. would appear in ‘Avengers: Finale’, and also would have a cameo as Tony Stark during the events of Armor Warsin the movie ‘War Machine’.
It’s worth mentioning Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Iron Man is just a rumor, and although it comes out during April Fool’s Day, this celebration in which various media outlets publish information as a joke, is celebrated in the United States on April 1 and comes from a source in the country. So while it’s not confirmed by Marvel or Disney, rumors shouldn’t be ruled out.
If it’s true, Robert Downey Jr. would appear alongside Tobey Maguire and Hugh Jackman in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, as the rumors about the protagonists of ‘Logan’ and ‘Spiderman’ say. So far, the sixth installment of The Avengers has a release date of May 1, 2026, so there are still many years left before we know if this will be true.

What is “Avengers: Secret Wars” about?
There are currently no official details on what could happen in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, but since it will be adapting one of Marvel Comics’ biggest events, you can get an idea of what Kevin Feige has been cooking up. Although there are two moments with the same name, it is the most recent one that takes on relevance, published in 2015, from the pen of Jonathan Hickman.
In this story, all the Marvel superheroes including variants from different universes like Reed Richards, Doctor Strange, Spiderman, Iron Man and more would face the destruction of the multiverse. Incursions, which already appeared in “Doctor Strange 2”, play an important role, and now the greatest heroes of the company are fighting for the survival of their world.
That’s why “Secret Wars” is one of the most ambitious crossovers to hit the screen since “Endgame.” Well, Kevin Feige’s idea will not only be to put the new UCM superheroes, but all those who died along the way, including Tony Stark, and not only that, but also variants from other multiverses, including The 4 FOX Fantastics , Tobey Maguire and many more.
