Pop star Cheryl is in talks to return to primetime television as a coach on ITV talent show The Voice UK in Manchester. The 43-year-old singer and former X Factor judge has been in discussions with show executives for months ahead of filming scheduled to begin on September 11.
If confirmed, the role will mark her first primetime television appearance in six years, following her stint as a dance captain on BBC competition series The Greatest Dancer in 2020.

A source told The Sun: "Every year producers ask Cheryl to go on the show, and it’s a polite ‘no’ as the timing has never quite been right."
The insider added: "This year it’s different. She feels ready to re-enter the spotlight and talks are now in the final stages."
The source continued: "Things could come crashing down but with three weeks to go until filming kicks off, the production team is working on the assumption she will be doing it. It helps that long-term friend Will.i.am will be beside her on the panel."
Negotiations are reportedly so far along that production staff have begun discussing her hair and makeup budget for the programme.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives of Cheryl and The Voice UK for comment.
Her prospective arrival comes amid wider changes to the ITV production, with reports that Alesha Dixon and Stacey Solomon are set to replace departing host Emma Willis for the new series.

Career documentary and personal life
The discussions over the talent show follow reports that Cheryl is planning another major career move, with negotiations underway for a documentary about her life.
The performer has largely remained out of the public spotlight following the death two years ago of One Direction singer Liam Payne, the father of her nine-year-old son Bear. She paused her music career after giving birth to Bear in 2017 to focus on motherhood and television work.
Her only recent return to the stage occurred in 2024 for the Girls Aloud reunion tour, organised in memory of her late bandmate Sarah Harding.

Insiders revealed that Cheryl is considering signing up for a documentary focusing on her career successes, starting with her debut on the reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. The production will also examine her love life, including her high-profile marriages to footballer Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini, alongside her relationship with Payne.
A source told The Sun: "Cheryl is incredibly picky about what she chooses to do these days and spends a lot of time on motherhood, but she feels like she has a story to tell."
No streaming service has been attached to the project yet, but the proposal is expected to prompt a bidding war among platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime and Apple.
The source said Cheryl would retain creative control over the documentary following her regrets regarding her 2012 film Access All Areas, which covered her first solo arena tour.
Speaking about the 2012 release, Cheryl explained that a friend filmed her "so that I would not feel like I had a camera crew in my way and at times forgot myself." She added: "I have since regretted this decision. The number of times I cringed watching it."
Social media security breaches
The television and documentary negotiations come while Cheryl's music career remains on hold. The Fight For This Love singer last released a single in 2019, though her online accounts were compromised twice in 2026 with unauthorised music uploads.
In January 2026, her official Spotify artist page was hacked when a new track claiming to be performed by her was published. In June 2026, fans discovered three fake albums titled Taking Care, Inner Peace and I Miss Who I Was added to the releases tab on her YouTube channel alongside her legitimate hit records.
