Sarah Polley, her latest film women talk opens in theaters in December and was named Director of the Year by the Palm Springs Film Festival. The honor will be presented at the PSIFF’s annual awards gala on January 5, kicking off the 2023 edition of the festival.
The last two recipients of the Palm Springs Directing Award – Jane Campion from last year The power of the dog and Chloe Zhao land of the nomads – They each won the Oscar for best director.
Polley joins Colin Farrell, the 2023 recipient of the Desert Palm Achievement, Actor Award for Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees by Inisherin.
Adapted and directed by Polley, women talk follows a group of women in an isolated religious colony as they struggle to reconcile their beliefs in the face of a series of attacks by the colony’s men. Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod, Kate Hallett, Liv McNeil and August Winter star Ben Whishaw and Frances McDormand.
The movie hits theaters on December 2.
