Emily Blunt spoke about the gender inequalities she experienced in the film industry and shared that women are still forced to defend themselves against their choice of work.
In a new interview with Porter Magazine, the actress – who shares daughters Hazel, eight, and Violet, five, with husband John Krasinski – also opened up about juggling work and motherhood.
The 39-year-old star admits she can feel “wracked with guilt” for working while raising two young children.

When asked if working in the same industry as her husband, actor and director John, highlights gender differences, the star is adamant that it does.
She said: “It’s interesting that women still feel defensive about choosing work and men don’t. And you’re just normalizing it… but I catch myself explaining or compensating too much.”
Emily’s latest project is the new miniseries The English, which sees the actress spend some time in Spain filming the 1890s western show.

Emily also revealed that during a recent shoot in Atlanta, she was often asked “where my kids were,” prompting an attempt at self-explanation.
“I was like, ‘I bet this question isn’t being asked by Chris Evans or Andy Garcia or Jay Duplass,'” she continued.
