Tennis star Johanna Konta announced the birth of her first child.

The former UK number one, who retired from the sport in December 2021, shared a photo of her cuddling her newborn baby on an Instagram update on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old athlete announced on Monday that her daughter was born and her name is Emmeline.

In January, while Johanna was co-commentator for Eurosport at the Australian Open, she called selected tennis reporters to ask if her recent retirement had been linked to a possible pregnancy.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Johanna said she hated being asked if her decision to retire was related to a family plan.
