Letizia and Felipe’s agenda until the end of the year: birthdays, trip to Germany and the future of the infanta Sofia

Royalty is not free from the return to routine What September brings. King Felipe VI resumed his official agenda last Friday, when he presided over his first act since August 10 in Palma de Mallorca. Tomorrow it will continue the planned actions and receive the President of the Constitutional Court, to whom it will hand over the annual report of the institution. On the other hand, Queen Letizia will resume her activities next Tuesday, when she will attend the “Tour del Cancer” conference organized by the Spanish Association against Cancer in Lleida. An association of which she has been permanent honorary president since 2010.

In addition to the official acts, there is a clear date in the family calendar on September 15. Mrs Letizia turns 50 and Casa Real has prepared some surprises before the frost. In September 2012, when the Queen turned 40, a series of family photos was published to mark this special day. The photographer Cristina García Rodero, a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, was responsible for immortalizing the happy couple along with their two daughters in the extensive gardens of their home, and even in the interior spaces. The royal family didn’t try to be the typical poses, and some of the photos were very natural, especially thanks to the spontaneity of the Infanta Sofia and Princess Leonor, who were still children.

In 2018, they also admitted photographers into the dining room of the Princes Pavilion, this time on the occasion of Felipe VI’s 50th birthday. We could see the four members of the family in everyday situations like enjoying dinner, taking the girls to school or, in the case of the king, preparing his Christmas speech every year. In addition to the images that were published, this time we also saw the family on video. One of the most remembered moments was played by Princess Leonor, when she burned herself with the vegetable soup they ate and her sister Sofía couldn’t contain her laughter.

Continuing the official agenda for the rest of the year, Letizia and Felipe will travel to Germany in October, in what will likely be their last state trip in 2022. The King and Queen will spend a few days with the Head of State, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife, Elke Büdenbender. In addition to a gala dinner, they visit Berlin and Frankfurt. Later, the Princess of Asturias Awards will be held, which have changed their date this year so that Leonor could arrive from Wales on time. The young woman is taking a short vacation from October 28 to November 6, so she can also celebrate her 17th birthday with her family.

For its part, the infanta Sofia is at a decisive moment. The young woman starts 4th ESO and it remains to be seen if he will follow in his older sister’s footsteps, and will move to Wales to attend secondary school. Sources close to the family explained to ‘El Español’ that the young woman is looking forward to studying at UWC Atlantic College in Wales. “It is very clear. Just because of the things her sister tells her, she can’t wait to go to Wales too, but people think it’s very easy, but the tests to take and the average grades they ask you are very complicated.” . The good rapport between the sisters, together with the anecdotes that Princess Leonor will tell her, made the Infanta want to study at the prestigious English school.

It was in February 2021 when the Royal House announced that the Princess of Asturias would continue her studies in Wales. Leonor is studying the last school year, and next year he will go to university. The heiress to the throne had to pass the entrance exams to get a place at UWC Atlantic College, and her efforts to achieve this were not in vain. It remains to be seen whether the infanta Sofía will become another student of the center.
