Bump: Stan’s critically acclaimed comedy produces a spin-off

The Stan Original Bump series spawned a spin-off called Year Of.

Claudia Karvan, who stars and produces Bump, revealed details of the new series at a television industry conference in Queensland last week, Variety Australia reports.

Year Of is set in the same Sydney high school as Bump, but the series creators said a new cast of characters will follow.

Bump, a teen comedy drama about pregnancy, was one of Stan’s most popular and critically acclaimed series making its 2021 debut.

Year Of was filmed at a secondary school in Glebe, near Sydney’s CBD.

The plots explore the conflicts stemming from the recent gentrification of inner-city working-class neighborhoods, where young people living in $12 million homes mingle with children from housing commissions.

Meanwhile, production of the third season of Bump continues.

Claudia told the Screen Forever conference that fans can expect a “huge reaction” to some of the stories.

The actor-producer plays Angie Davis, the mother of teenage mother Oly Davis-Chalmers (Nathalie Morris) in Bump.

She stars opposite Angus Sampson, who plays her ex-husband Dom.

Last September, Claudia spoke to the Daily Mail about the challenges of filming Bump’s second season during the Covid pandemic.

“The removal of people from their enclosed LGAs had to be tested regularly, the places were very difficult to access,” he said.

He explained that everyone on set was “very conscientious” about a safe environment.

“Anyway, it was a shame; It is forbidden to go out to drink or eat after work. “There’s no social interaction, and this kind of work is very social,” he said.
