The TV producer believes in the new project.
MTV announced the return of the 2000s show “Pimp My Car”. The project has changed the host, the workshop has moved from California to the UK and the program will be released on YouTube. But can a show from the late 2000s, when crazy auto tuning was in vogue, surprise anyone in the new decade?
TV producer Dmitry Ashurov believes that the project can be quite successful. The expert admits that the MTV channel in Russia is no longer in the same position as it was 20 years ago. In the West, however, he still ranks at the top and can sell brainchildren like “Pimp My Car” to viewers time and time again.
“The show has not yet outlived its usefulness, on the contrary, it is still relevant – there were cars, there are cars, there will be cars. In principle it is even true that Exibit has been changed, for a young audience it is hardly suitable. I think the ratings for the new show will be high,” the expert said in an interview with PopCornNews.
He also drew attention to the project’s partnership with eBay’s auto parts division, which plays a defining role in the show. It was previously suggested that the project would be revived precisely through this collaboration. Ashurov agreed with this idea.
“I think the eBay partnership is directly related to the show. After all, what is the concept of the project? They almost turn a dilapidated car into a new one, and of course that requires new spare parts. In which exactly the eBay division, who acted as a partner specializes in. This is a great way to make money!” concluded the specialist.
