News & Documentaries Emmy Award nominations announced for 43rd edition

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced nominations for the 43rd edition of the News & Documentary Emmy Awards on Thursday. Prizes will be awarded in two individual ceremonies: the news categories on September 28 at 7:30 pm ET and the documentary categories on September 29 at 7:30 pm ET.

In addition to handing out Emmy Awards in 64 categories, the Academy will honor two people with Lifetime Achievement Awards in news and documentaries: Judy WoodruffEditor-in-Chief and Director, PBS news time for news and Sir David AttenboroughBiologist, humanist and director.

The News & Documentary Emmys reward the programming content of more than 2,500 presentations premiered in calendar year 2021. ABC leads with 39 nominations this year, followed by CNN (37), PBS (28) Vice (28), CBS (26)) and HBO (23).
