Ashley Graham teams up with Pronovias again to inspire ‘plus size’ brides

The model Ashley Graham has become a fashion icon, breaking all kinds of taboos regarding clothing sizing.

After a successful first collaboration in 2020, the star has teamed up again with Pronovias, the world’s leading firm in the bridal sector. The second “Ashley Graham x Pronovias” collection has 17 designs hitting stores in July and, like every other dress from the company, can be found in the wide range of sizes from 32 to 64.

The launch of this capsule collection is a step forward in the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity in bridal fashion. Achieved thanks to the blend of Pronovias’ expertise and glamor along with Ashley’s personal message stating that all women have the right to look spectacular on their wedding day, regardless of weight, size or body type.

“I’m very excited that Pronovias and I have been able to work together again to continue creating luxury wedding dresses for women of all shapes and sizes,” said Ashley. “I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve done with this incredible collection, because every woman deserves to feel beautiful on her wedding day.”

The models in the collection present light and avant-garde silhouettes, with a significant improvement in the design and manufacture of the dresses to offer the highest quality to brides. Designed by Ashley together with the creative director of the Pronovias Group, Alessandra Rinaudo, the new collection will enable every type of bride to find the perfect dress that will make them feel modern, elegant and sensational.

This collection redefines form for curvy women, with innovation from within. “This time, we put much more emphasis on design innovation,” says Alessandra Rinaudo. “We have improved the fabrics, the rhinestones, the lace and the embroidery. And we really thought about how brides can feel fabulous at different kinds of parties, from the simplest to those who love a dress with all kinds of details.”

The proportionality of the range of sizes was carefully studied, from the line of the back to the volume of the skirt and the size of the cups, to create a perfectly balanced silhouette for curvy women. As Alessandra assures, “every detail has been studied to further stylize the silhouette. From the skilful use of skin tones, the proportion of the neck and back, to the volume of the skirt and the technical constructions inside”.

The style directions in Ashley Graham x Pronovias 2023 that will shine brides of all body types are as follows:

  • boho revivala new interpretation of this style so acclaimed for its great support capacity and at the same time a sublime lightness that allows a clear silhouette on the hips and thighs, creating a relaxed, romantic and fresh look that can be worn from day to night.
  • the fantastic mermaid, for all women to look spectacular with strategically sculptural shapes and luxurious fabrics with a hint of stretch. These mermaid dresses debunk the myth that fitted styles are only suitable for certain body types.
  • the modern princess, for brides who love the iconic princess look. These styles accentuate the upper body with runway busts supported by specially developed cups, and with lighter skirts, they retain the volume of a ball gown thanks to innovative linings and layers.

It is not the model’s first collaboration with the company. His first proposal came in in 2020. “Women need to feel confident and empowered throughout the entire process, from buying the ideal wedding dress to the big day,” the model noted at the time. “It is imperative for the bridal industry to champion inclusivity and body diversity, which is why it is an honor to partner with Pronovias to offer beautiful luxury options in a variety of sizes and styles.”

The collection, also available in sizes 32 to 66, consisted of 16 exclusive pieces, from 1,000 to 3,000 eurosyes It was not the first time that Ashley Graham became an ambassador for a prestigious company. The model has also been for the Violeta By Mango line and for the firm Revlon, specifically for the Live Boldly campaign.

More and more companies are applying the ‘body positive’ concept. ASOS, Vertize or BHLDN are just a few references to success.
