After organizers were forced to cancel twice, Glastonbury returns this weekend with Paul McCartney closing the festival on Saturday night as the oldest solo headliner.
Sir Paul McCartney will become the Glastonbury Festival’s longest-running solo headliner when he hits the Pyramid Stage this weekend.
After being canceled in the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the popular Somerset festival will return with the former Beatles headliner on Saturday night (June 25).
The performance, which will mark the second time Paul will star on The Pyramid Stage, will take place exactly one week after the star celebrated his 80th birthday.
In May, the much-loved musician hinted that the next show will include hits of his time in the Beatles and the Wings, as well as some of his most famous solo songs.

Speaking during rehearsals, he revealed that most of the audience “paid a lot of money, brought moms and dads” and didn’t want to hear his “deep cuts”.
Paul, who has spent more than 60 years making music, is expected to draw huge crowds to the festival, rivaling those of the Rolling Stones in 2013 and Adele in 2016.
Additionally, Glastonbury will also welcome its youngest solo headliner in the form of 20-year-old Billie Eilish on Friday night (June 24).
The singer, firmly in the spotlight since 2019 with the release of the hit Bad Guy, confirmed the news to fans in October last year.

At the time, Billie shared a photo of herself wearing a Glastonbury signature hoodie and simply wrote “2022” next to it.
But despite his enthusiasm, the musical talent experiences nervousness before the event.
Speaking to Matt Wilkinson on his Glastonbury special on Apple Music 1, Billie explained, “It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be invited to go and do. And I constantly feel like I don’t deserve it.” All, and I think it’s a good thing.I would say that’s a good thing for the most part.
“But first of all it makes you question everyone because you think ‘Why should you choose me?’ But that said, that’s why I’m even more excited and happy to be the youngest headliner ever.

“And I’m a woman and it’s really great. And I’m excited for the future. And unfortunately there aren’t many female leads all the time, so I’m very honored and very excited. “
Meanwhile, Paul is definitely a veteran when it comes to performing on stage.
After meeting John Lennon at school, the singer joined the Beatles in 1961, where he took over on bass.
In addition to Paul and John, the band also became engaged to George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Brian Epstein signed with the Beatles in 1962 and that same year they had their first hit with Love Me Do.
Over the next seven years, the Beatles played songs like Hey Jude, She Loves You, Twist And Shout, and All You Need Is Love until their breakup in 1970.
After their separation, Paul formed a new band, Wings, with his wife Linda as one of the members.
