John Huertas was in Puerto Rico when he learned he was suddenly unemployed, the series he starred in. Castle, recently canceled from ABC after eight seasons. As a seasoned actor, I knew he was ready for the class. But few knew that what he expected would change her life and his career. Huertas played Miguel Rivas in the NBC hit We are In the six seasons of the series and through this new opportunity, he was able to fulfill his dream of becoming a director.
How was the auditing process to get the role of Miguel? We are?
When I got home from Puerto Rico, I applied for potential positions Ozark, One day Y We are. Casting directors We are I fell in love with the role of Mike, who later became Miguel. A week after my casting they asked me to go out on the court to make a pass while using silicone and plaster to multiply the head. What I liked most about working on this program is that they allowed me to collaborate on its evolution. I am proud of how we portray Miguel as a successful character, with a unique background and history. We gradually planted small seeds on what Miguel was like in each season. It ended with an episode of “Miguel” that originated from the conversations we had each season.
He made his directorial debut in the fifth season episode of “The Ride”. Is directing something you’ve always wanted to do?

In the first season he sat me down and told me that at some point he would take me to the director’s chair. The show was so successful that everyone wanted to make the transition from Serie A actors to feature film directors. It took me a while before these amazing creatives got their chance. Then my turn came. It was a dream come true. It was the best way to have my first experience in a director’s chair, as I had a talented actor and band who supported me and trusted me. You will learn very quickly that you are responsible for every word given on this page and not just for your dialogue and every aspect of the movie. It was the most enjoyable experience of my career. From the moment we started shooting the episode, to the role of director, I experienced the greatest sense of perfection, more than I have ever felt as an actor. Are you going to spend more time behind the camera now?
I hope I have a balance, because I don’t think I’m ready to wear a hat as an actor, but now I really want to direct. There are many opportunities on this front and I have already booked some jobs running TV networks. How do you think Miguel’s story ends?

The feedback we have received from healthcare workers, immigrants, people who feel trapped between the two worlds, the Afro-Latinos and the Latin community that has been seen has been incredible. I’m not the type to cry while watching the show, but this character has been a part of me for six years. I said goodbye like we said, it was so good I kicked him. I think, because Miguel’s last episode was so difficult, it sparked people’s interest in the studies and networks, which hopefully bring more opportunities for someone like me to be at the center of the show.
What will you gain from the experience of working with you? We are?
Working on the show taught me the importance of being the perfect partner on stage. Actors always gave 100 percent in every performance, even if they weren’t in front of the camera for a particular scene. So when Sterling K. Brown or Justin Hartley or Mandy Moore performed well, the rest of us were cheering for them and they were doing the same for us with the same energy and respect.
