The “stranger” now has the same problem as the worst season of “Game of Thrones” (and how to resolve it is not clear)

Seven seasons and eleven years of the ‘foreigner’ followed the novels of Diana Gabbledon with confidence, but now the series caught up with its literary source for the first time. For 34 years, Gabbledon wrote nine books of the main saga and the date of release of the tenth and final – “a blessing for a warrior that goes out” – has not yet been announced.

And instead of waiting for the end of the author’s work, the makers of the “Stranger” decided to complete the story on the screen alone – the eighth season will be the latter.

Showranner Matthew B. Roberts received separate fragments in advance of the tenth book by Gebron and tried to weave them in the final. However, as Gabbledon itself emphasizes, the end of the series will still be different from the book:

“I can’t say much about the series, but I can certainly say that the final will not be like the end of book history.”

For the first time in the history of “strangers”, the screenwriters go through an unknown territory without a clear route map – the situation is painfully known to fans of the “Game of Thrones” and the haters of the controversial last season.

Once the “Game of Thrones” also caught up with the original novels by George Martin, after which the showraners went his own way – and the result was unhappy with almost the entire Fandom.

The final was blamed for violating the characters of the heroes, the departure of the author’s plan and the hasty development of events, and therefore the controversial decisions of the screenwriters have not succeeded in shooting root and causing empathy.

In both cases, the authors of the book series – both Martin and Boned – only shared part of future suddenly with the team, while the most important secrets still remained behind the scenes. But if the “Game of Thrones” would decide on sharp deviations and eventually aroused disappointment with many spectators, then the “Stranger” always tried to stay closer to the original and to consult with Gabbledon – she worked as a consultant and a screenwriter.

Agacton admits:

“They will have to choose the best scenes and plot threads to enter them in the structure of one season and try to bring everything to a considerable completion.”

The eighth season played with different end options at the same time – the makers had time to try different approaches and to choose the most successful option in the installation phase. According to the executive producer, Maril Davis, if there was a chance, they would certainly adjust all ten books, but with the limitations they expect to give the audience an “emotional and worthy ending”.
