In the third season of the sensational series “White Lotus” on HBO, Yuri Kolokolnikov on the screen embodied the image of Vlad – Russian with a difficult fate, a criminal fleur and a kitsch wardrobe. His character is a good friend of Valentine, a Russian coach in the White Lotus Resort in Thailand.
It is Vlad who appears to be involved in the brutal theft of the jewelry store, which becomes one of the noticeable storylines of the season. Because of his character, the viewer is introduced to the entire company: Alexey, Kate Bor, Lori Duffy, Jacqueline Lemon and, of course, Valentin himself.
Vlad appears in various episodes at the same time: “Special procedures” (the debut), “Hide and Seek”, “Full Moon Party”, “The Instinct of the Killer”, and is also mentioned in the “Denial” series.
“White Lotus” through the eyes of Kolokolnikov
The shooting of the third season was a real adventure for Kolokolnikov, which he told in an interview with Kinopoisk. According to him, the atmosphere on the site looked like short films of students, but instead of tents – luxurious villas and five -star hotels. Main locations: The Legendary Four Seasons on Samui, as well as Anantara and Rosewood Hotels on Phuket.
“Very cool guy played Russians: Julian Kostov (Alexei) from Bulgaria, but lives in England, and Arnas Fedraravichus (Valentine) – from Lithuania. In general, there were many Russians in the group. Kolokolnikov flew three times to Thailand, each time for about two weeks. The work schedule was really “holiday payment”: the first day is a vacation, the second is the assembly of a T-shirt for a character, the third is preparation, then a few days to move forward with a beach relaxation. “10 days of excellent vacation,” Yuri admits. At the same time, the main group worked tirelessly for the season that they shot 115 shooting days, from February to August, and the main operator Ben Katchins remembered how tiring the work was because of a huge volume and constant crossings in Thailand.
Together with Kolokolnikov, loved ones and friends often appear on the set. The daughter of Taisiya came for a whole week and director Max Shishkin could not believe that they were bathing in the sea next to Jason Aisex – another star participant in the season.
