James Cameron warns of AI Apocalypse: “Terminator” will soon become a reality?

In a new interview he stated that artificial intelligence is one of the three most important “existential threats” for humanity, and the development of technology can lead to a script comparable to the events of his film.

“I think there is still a danger for an apocalypse style of the terminator, when AI is combined with weapon systems, to the level of nuclear weapons and defensive counterattacks,” Cameron said in a conversation with roles Stone.

At the same time, the director warns against the temptation to check all important decisions of AI:

“Because the theater of military operations are developing so quickly and the windows for making decisions are so small, you need super intelex to process all of this. We may be smarter and leave a person in a decision chain. But people are inclined to make mistakes, and there were already situations when the world was on the edge of the nuclear war.”

The director remembered that in 1984 he warned of the risks of developing artificial intelligence by releasing a “terminator” in which the Skynet system tried to destroy humanity.

“I warned you in 1984! But you didn’t listen,” he annoys.

Cameron believes that humanity has now come to a dangerous line when three worldwide threats coincide over time: climate change and environmental destruction, nuclear weapons and AI-SUPERINELLeck. “Maybe the super intelex will be an answer to our problems.
