In 2010, Stephen King published a list of his favorite series – the then results of the year for Entertainment Weekly. The first rules occupy the predictable hits such as “All Heavy”, “Walking Dead” and “Nights of Night Friday.” But in fourth place it turned out to be a series suddenly, which is only remembered today by the most dedicated fans of the genre. It was closed after the first season. He went to NBC. And according to King this is the best Science Fiction show of everything that was.

The series was called the event, and the 22 episodes fit in so many plot turns that the multi season projects did not dream of. The authors tried to combine the political thriller, science fiction and personal drama – and at the same time constantly juggling temporary lines.

The main character is an ordinary man named Sean, who loses his girlfriend during the vacation and then accidentally finds himself in the center of the international conspiracy. At the same time, the American president tries to find out what to do with the CIA Secret Prison in Alaska, in which it appears that they have not been loved for years of our planet.

These beings are not distinguishable from people, they are slow and live among us. Some are under the castle, others are free. Who is not always clear. Each series has added new questions, new characters and new paranoia.

The series was immediately compared to the cult “to stay alive” and “24 hours”, and it is not unreasonable: the rhythm, the structure and the number of flashbacks were about the same.

Stephen King was delighted. He called the “event” “Smart and Spense Series”, especially Jason Ritter and Laura Innes praised. According to him, the project combined the tension of “24 hours” with mystery to survive, and the characters were alive enough to worry.

At the Kinopoisk, the series has only 6168 reviews – these are little catastrophic, even according to the standards of niche projects. The assessment is quite worthy – 7.2. So if you want something old, almost forgotten and unexpectedly suitable, the “event” still has the chance to surprise.
