While Christopher Nolan collects rewards for Oppenheimer and shakes his hand for every second film academic, James Cameron decided to remember that not everything is excited with the film.
In a new interview with Deadline, the director of the Terminator stated that the film is impressive in shape, but cowardly. In his opinion, Nolan deliberately avoided the most terrible – and this is what Cameron seemed moral surrender.
“I enjoyed how it was shot, but I felt that it was a kind of moral deviation of the subject,” says Cameron.
He emphasizes that Oppenheimer knew very well what he created. And although there is one scene in the film where the scientist seems to see the consequences – charred bodies, the auditorium, hallucinations – this ends.
“In my opinion, the film has just left this subject,” Kamon added. “I don’t know if the studio was afraid if Chris himself didn’t want to climb to where he beats the power, but I just want to go there.”
For Cameron itself, the theme of nuclear horror is not new. He remembers that at school he has become the book ‘Hiroshima’ by John Hercy Las and has since become a ‘Semi expert’ on thermonuclear weapons. The effect of the book was so impressed by a teenager Cameron that he later resulted in one of the most traumatic episodes in the history of the film – the scene of the explosion in Terminator 2, where Condor was torn by the explosive wave.

Now Cameron is preparing to make a separate film about this – “Ghosts or Hiroshima.” Without moralizing, without political apologies, just like proof of what happened:
“I don’t want to comment on conversations about whether it was worth throwing a bomb, whether Japan, etc. earned this. I want to show what happened. So that people would not forget it.”
