Mass Effect is one of those rare game series that has almost become sacred to his fans.
Since 2007, the universe, invented by the BioWare Studio, has won the hearts of gamers around the world: humanity and dozens of alien series are under the knee through the Melkweg, and Commander Shepard tries to stop mysterious and merciless mowers.
Now, after almost two decades, Amazon decided to film a cult franchise. MGM Studios are taken by the project and the details are slowly floating – together with excitement, hope and fears for fans.
Who is working on it
The first rumors were confirmed when the head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salka announced the negotiations on the mass effect of the series. Subsequently, in November 2024, Variety unveiled the first details: the script writes Daniel Casey-Hij worked on the film “Furious 9” and the Science Fiction drama “Relations”.
Deadline recently added a new part of the information to this: The show grant will be Jang Jang, a script from Startrek: Infinity “and various episodes of” Mind Hunter. “Despite the modest experience as a show grant, he has experience in the SCI-Fi genre, and critics appreciated his past.
To maintain the spirit of the original game, the project is involved in the head of BioWare Michael Gamble, as well as producer Arya Rodd. Cedar Tree Productions supervises shooting.
And what about the plot?
The most important intrigues is whether the series will remain faithful to the spirit of the original trilogy or will become another free interpretation. Mass Effect -games were not only famous for Loro, but also because of the favorite mechanics: the fate of the Milky Way depends on the player’s solutions. Adjusting such a structure to the size of the series is an almost impossible task.
Shepard itself creates extra complexity. In the game, everyone could choose the gender, appearance, background and behavior of their hero. In the series you have to choose one version – and thousands of others disappoint.
IMDB has already succeeded in cooling the enthusiasm of a part of the audience and describing the future plot as “the story of the commander Shepard and his struggle with the Reapers in the XXII -century.” That is, no new hero and no new story can be expected.
