Pop star Justin Bieber has revealed he suffers from a disease that has left half of his face paralyzed.

The 28-year-old singer has already had to cancel his Justice World Tour shows due to a condition called Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

On Instagram, he provided fans with an update on the condition, providing a reason for the cancellations.

The Baby star said, “Hi everyone, Justin here wanted to update you on what’s going on.

“Obviously, as you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is because of this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and paralyzes my face.”

He said, “obviously my body is telling me to slow down,” adding that the condition is “pretty bad.”

During the clip, he tried to blink and smile, but couldn’t. He even tried to widen his nostril on that side of his face, but he couldn’t.

Addressing the disappointment of fans traveling to the shows, he said, “So for those who are frustrated with the cancellation of my upcoming shows, obviously I’m not physically capable of doing them. It’s pretty bad, as you can see, I wish I wouldn’t. is.

“But obviously my body is telling me I have to slow down and I hope they understand that.”

Prior to the latest video, Bieber said he had to cancel some shows on the 130-date tour due to “illnesses not related to Covid”.



The pop sensation was unable to blink or dilate her nostrils on the affected side.

Writing at the time, he said, “I can’t believe I’m saying this. I’ve done my best to get better, but my illness is getting worse.

“It breaks my heart to have to postpone these upcoming shows (medical prescriptions). I love all my people very much and will rest and improve.

Vowing to regain her full health, she said she was doing facial exercises to try to regain her sensitivity.

Shingles affecting the facial nerves near the ear is the cause of Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which in turn can lead to hearing loss in the affected ear and facial paralysis.

It is caused by the chickenpox virus itself, which can remain dormant in the nervous system before bursting later.

Complications of Ramsay Hunt syndrome can occur and prompt medical attention and treatment is needed to limit the risk.

According to the Mayo Clinic, risks can include permanent weakening of the facial muscles and hearing loss, although for most people the symptoms are temporary.
