How does Marvel do without its best superheroes?

After the final part of the Infinity Saga, many fans of the superhero film universe decided that the golden days of the MCU were over. There are many arguments in favor of this position: the most beloved characters are officially “everyone”, and as of 2021, only two Marvel films have managed to gross more than a billion – these are “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the recent “Deadpool and Wolverine”.

But there have been twelve films since the “last” Avengers – how good are they really? We decided to find out.

Despite isolated successes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still in a creative crisis. This phenomenon has even been given its own name: it’s “superhero fatigue,” which is believed to be the reason why audiences are much less willing to go to the cinema to see superhero blockbusters than they used to be.

Perhaps this is why the cinematic universe decided to return to its roots. So the next two Avengers films – “Judgment Day” and “Secret Wars” – will once again be directed by the Russo brothers, who directed “Infinity War” and “Endgame.”

In addition, Robert Downey Jr. will also return to the cinematic universe – but no longer in his role in Iron Man. Downey will play Doctor Doom in Judgment Day. As the actor himself said: he has a “new mask”, but “an old job”. The filming of the new part of “The Avengers” is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025. We just have to wait a little longer and we will understand if this is a new era for Marvel – or the final funeral of the superhero universe.
