David Corenswet wants Superman to join this iconic DC companion

With James Gunn’S Superman Flying early in cinemas, the cast is already imagining how the wider DC universe could be. While Batman is the obvious answer for those who fans want to see crossed paths with the man of steel, actor David Corenswet He has his eyes on someone else in the Pipistrelli family … Robin.

When Comicbook asked Corenswet as DC character he was more enthusiastic about seeing in the new universe, he offered this weighted response:

“I think Batman should be my answer, but it came to my mind that one of the breasts – one of Robin’s iterations – would be interesting, because I think Superman has a good dad’s energy.

“And although he was explored – his relationship with his children in certain iterations – I feel like it was interesting to have him as a kind of uncle’s figure for the young protected of Batman.”

This is a fun idea that adapts perfectly to what DC Studios has already made fun of. Gunn confirmed that his version of Batman will be introduced together with Damian Wayne, the Robin known to be Batman’s biological son with Talia al Ghul.

Unlike the most put in the ground of the past, Damian is fatal, from the language and grown by the League of Assassins. This alone would be a fascinating clash with the vision of the world’s hopeful and morally founded world of Superman.

The idea of Corenswet also opens the door of the super children. In comics, Superman’s son Jonathan Kent and Damian Wayne form a reluctant but effective duo for the fight against crime. Their dynamic with the instincts of Damian’s brazen assassins who rub against Jon’s healthy idealism offered some fun and emotional moments.

Now, introducing Jon Kent would mean weaving in dilation time or other oddities of the comics, since the Corenswet Superman is still at the beginning of his journey. But even without Jon, giving Damian some significant time with Superman could reshape the way fans see both characters. Damian needs a moral compass. Superman is the moral compass.

There is no time confirmed for when Batman and Robin will make their debut in the new DCU, but clearly the seeds are already planted, both on the screen and in the minds of the cast.

Superman It opens in theaters on Friday 11 July.
