Why come up with something new when the classics are so good?
Some books have such a strong cultural impact that they inspire directors to bring them to the screen again and again. Throughout the history of cinema, there are works that have been filmed dozens of times, and each new reading manages to bring something of itself into the perception of the classics.
These books become real hits for film and television, and the audience is happy to return to familiar stories in a new format. Our selection includes the 10 most filmed literary works. And if the second book alone has 69 film adaptations, how many of the first?

The latter two works are still alive and in development (sounds ironic, considering who their main characters are). Based on the Frankenstein story, a new film by Guillermo del Toro will be released soon, with Jacob Elordi playing the lead role. Previously, Andrew Garfield was set to do so, but this year it was announced that the Saltburn star would replace him. The premiere date has not yet been set.
And according to Dracula, despite the plethora of film adaptations, there will be a new film, “Nosferatu,” in 2024. The cast, I have to say, is impressive: “It” star Bill Skarsgård, “The Warmth of Our Bodies” actor Nicholas Hoult and Lily-Rose Depp, who recently starred in the series “Idol” with singer The Weeknd. Despite the fact that the series itself was questionable, her acting in it was praised.
The new “Nosferatu” is expected to hit theaters on December 25, 2024.
