This casting would shock many.
Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is one of the most successful Hollywood comic book adaptations. A realistic story with an incredible performance from Christian Bale and some memorable villains, it is still considered the best comic book movie in history. But the cult trilogy could have ended very differently.
The fact is that during the casting of the film ‘Batman Begins’ the producers did not want to cast Bale, but a completely different actor for the role of Bruce Wayne.
In a recent interview, screenwriter David S. Goyer admitted that he actively promoted Jake Gyllenhaal for the role of Batman.
“I was involved in the casting process. We talked about all sorts of things. There were different people auditioning for the role of Batman, and I got cast as Jake Gyllenhaal. He’s great, Christian Bale is great, so who knows.” said Goyer.
According to the screenwriter, Gyllenhaal even tried on the Batman costume on camera. Besides, he looked just great.
But for some reason, Nolan decided not to cast Gyllenhaal in the role of his hero and preferred Bale.
After 14 years, Gyllenhaal finally stepped into the prestigious comic book movie and played the role of Mysterio in the blockbuster Spider-Man: Far From Home. Moreover, fans are confident that Gyllenhaal can still play Batman. James Gunn is currently looking for an actor to play Batman in the new DCEU, and Gyllenhaal fits the desired age of the character perfectly.
Nearly 400,000 Kinopoisk users gave the movie “Batman Begins” a rating of 7.9 points, proving once again that Bale fully justified Nolan’s hopes.
