And then I removed the spoiler.
The second season of House of the Dragon turned out to be noticeably worse than the first, and fans blamed showrunner Ryan Condal for this, who decided to continue George R. R. Martin’s original plot. And it seems Martin himself agrees with the opinion of the book’s fans.
In a now-deleted post on his website Not a Blog, Martin criticized Condal’s decision to remove Maelor Targaryen from the series. Yes, in the author’s original book, Queen Helaine Targaryen had three children, not two as shown in the series.

Perhaps Condal thought that including another character would only confuse viewers and decided to get rid of Maelor. However, he didn’t take into account that it was Maelor’s death that would influence one of the most important events of the upcoming third season: Helaine’s suicide.
In his post, Martin inadvertently spoiled Queen Helaine’s death for fans who hadn’t read the book Fire and Blood. Helaena is consumed with guilt and commits suicide after Maelor’s death.

It’s clear that Condal can’t change this major storyline in season three. But Martin is already unhappy with the showrunner’s approach, wisely pointing out that without Maelor, Helaena’s death would make no sense.
“In Ryan Condal’s Season Three sketches, Helaina still kills herself… But for no specific reason. There’s no new horror, no event that could overwhelm the vulnerable young queen.” – said Martin.
Even though Martin was unhappy with the actions of the House of the Dragon showrunner, he shouldn’t have ruined such an important plot twist in his post. Maybe that’s why he deleted it already.
