Post-apocalypse for the whole family.
Three years ago, Netflix presented an unusual project that appealed to viewers of different ages and generations.
Interestingly enough, it was based on a series of comics that were rated 18+, successfully adapted into a plot for the whole family.
We’re talking about Sweet Tooth, which premiered its final season in June of this year and received a rare 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What is the series about?
Events take place in a world that has survived the apocalypse. An unknown virus turns children into hybrids, and one of them – a half-human, half-deer named Gus – sets off on a journey through dangerous lands after the death of his father.

What makes the show unique?
The original comic was full of violence, graphic scenes and animalistic rage, despite the main character being a child.
The original source even scared the protagonist, 11-year-old Christian Convery, so the creators changed the format of the story, removing scenes of cannibalism, torture and murder.

What is the secret of popularity
The series presents post-apocalypticism in a different way. Unlike The Walking Dead or Mad Max, it does not focus on the cruelty and evil of the world, but on the fate of children and their protectors.
The Netflix version has its rough patches and unexpected twists, but the writers brought out the themes of mutual support, hope and trust.
The result is a sad but overall good utopian story that’s a breath of fresh air compared to other franchises in the same genre.
