The answer is simple, but there is one ‘but’.
Norman Reedus appeared in approximately 150 episodes of The Walking Dead and became an integral part of it.
It was only a matter of time before a Daryl Dixon spinoff finally premiered last September.

Loyal fans of the franchise have already gotten to know it and formed their own opinions, but newcomers had a much harder time, as this is already the fifth branch of the main series.
The main question most viewers have is: do you have to watch the original to enjoy the spin-off?
Well, one ‘yes’ or ‘no’ is not enough here.
According to the plot, Daryl finds himself on the coast of France – where the deadly virus originated – in an unfamiliar territory torn by conflicting factions. As he decides which side to fight for, he hears rumors of a Messiah child born as a healthy boy to a zombie mother.
Dixon’s journey, apart from the familiar characters of the flagship series, can be seen as a work in itself.
Here, the audience is introduced to his entirely new associates and rivals, whose storylines develop only within the framework of the show.
So there’s no need to know the original ‘Walking’ television universe inside and out.
However.

It’s safe to say that without knowing the many names and moments that have accumulated over eleven seasons, it will be impossible to get the most complete satisfaction from watching.
It’s important to remember the chronology of events in Daryl’s life, because with the release of future episodes his story will become increasingly confusing.
